  9. Lift is the force that allows an object to fly upward. Lift is the counter-force to gravity.

Lift is explained by the Bernoulli Principle. This principle states that the faster air moves over an object, the lower the air pressure. For example, both a bird wing and an airplane wing are shaped so that the air travelling over the top of the wing travels faster than the air under the wing. This wing shape is called an airfoil.

  13. According to the Bernoulli Principle, the faster the air moves over the wing, the lower the air pressure above the wing. This is what gives the wing lift.
